Cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Alcoy

The number of infections in L ‘Alcoià and El Comtat has continued to increase. The latest count adds 154 new infections between December 1 and 6, which causes the accumulated incidence to reach 277.95 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the Alcoy Health Department.

The Ministry of Health has made the data update to December 6, adding 92 new coronavirus cases in Alcoy. Cocentaina has 17 more infections, Banyeres de Mariola 12, Ibi 10 and Muro de Alcoy 7.

The rise in infections is starting to worry at the Virgen de los Lirios Hospital, even though most people could recover at home. Of the newly infected people, 16 have been admitted to the hospital, with two of them currently in the intensive care unit.

Of those affected who need care in the hospital to overcome the disease, there are three members of the same family, father, mother, and son, neither of whom had been vaccinated.

The total of those affected by the pandemic amounts to 16,293, since March 2020. Since then, 425 infected have died.
