The Xàtiva-Alcoy rail line will be closed to traffic for one year to modernize the rail route that will turn 119 next year, according to information from sources in the sector. The decision, not without controversy and which will generate criticism, has been adopted to carry out the works safely and without the imposition of having to make them compatible with the three daily trains that connect the capital of the Costera with that of l’Alcoià.
There is still no specific date for the closing and the start of the works. When updating the track on other lines, the work was done at night so as to not interfere with commuters going to and from work. The belief at the moment is that Renfe will offer a bus service between Alcoy and Xativa when the rail line temporarily shuts down.
