The Contracting Board of the Alcoy City Council has evaluated this Wednesday the offers presented to carry out the rehabilitation works of the Rodes industrial complex, to turn it into a technological-cultural park. The best-positioned proposal among the four suggested and the job awarded is that of the UTE formed by Victor Tormo SL and Eladio Silvestre, with an offer that amounts to 7,023,188.06 euros (VAT included).
This award must be approved in the plenary session. It is expected that all the documentation will be available to bring this issue to the session in September. From that moment, the works have an execution period of 28 months. According to the councilor for Urban Planning, Jordi Martínez:
“These works constitute the central part of the Rodes project, one of the most important of the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) Alcoidemà and with which it is expected to generate an economic boost in the city. We are particularly pleased that the selected offer has a vital local component, which impacts the generation of wealth and employment in the city. “
The works are 50% co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) of the Pluriregional Program of Spain 2014-2020, while the other half will be provided for the most part by the Generalitat Valenciana and in a lower percentage the Alcoy City Council.
The works will affect two different parts of the Rodes block. In the first place, the block facing Salvador Allende street and the lower part of Agres street will host a technology park. Companies and start-ups will be installed and energized by the Digital District of the Generalitat Valenciana.
Second, the buildings located at the top of Calle Agres and those facing Calle Vistabella will be dedicated to educational and socio-cultural activities. A central public park will interconnect these two large blocks. The recovered modernist and industrial elements will be combined with the typical vegetation of the municipality’s natural gardens.
The drafting of the project on which the rehabilitation of the Rodes industrial complex will be carried out arose from the public tender organized by the Alcoy City Council. It was awarded on July 18, 2020, to the UTE composed of Ramón Esteve Estudio, VVV Estudio, Isaac Montava.
