Alicante province reports 1,419 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, with Alcoy recording more than 3,000 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. In Ibi, the situation is even worse, with more than 4,000 cases per 100,000, leading local authorities to ask the regional government to impose home confinement.
The incidence rate has continued to grow unstoppably in Alicante province, reaching an average of 1,419 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. According to the data released yesterday by the Conselleria de Sanidad Universal y Salud Pública, this information is compared to 1,082 that reflected the previous update.
The situation is even more complicated in the departments most affected by this wave, such as the General Hospital of Elche, which has an incidence rate of 1,881, and Elda, with 2,193. The situation is worse by far in the Alcoy health department, which currently has 4,161 active cases and an index of 3,036 per 100,000.
All the large municipalities in the Alcoyan health area remain above 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The situation has now stabilized in Alcoy but worsened in the rest of the surrounding area.
