Alcoy Police Fine Six Motorists For Trying To Access Font Roja

Over the weekend, six drivers were fined by the police for trying to access Font Roja to see the snow. As a part of the measures designed to stop the coronavirus’s spread, Alcoy’s scenic natural area was closed off to visitors.

Despite the widely publicized message that people should not leave or enter Alcoy, six people were sanctioned for trying to visit the park.

The Font Roja road, CV-797, will remain closed to traffic. At the same time, the municipality of Alcoy is confined, at least until next January 21, allowing access only to authorized personnel and residents and owners of farms in the area. The visitor center is also closed to the public. Councilor for Security, Raül Llopis, has asked citizens to “comply with the measures since they aim to protect public health.”
