The escalation of coronavirus cases in these towns of the Alcoy Health Department prompts their mayors to ask their neighbors not to go out if it is not necessary to avoid infections.
The increase of coronavirus cases in the Alcoy Health Department has moved mayors of towns such as Alfafara (407 inhabitants), Beniarrés (1,118 inhabitants), and Banyeres de Mariola (7,113 inhabitants) to request self-confinement from their neighbors. Beniarrés with 16 positives and reaches health alert 3 of uncontrolled and sustained community transmission. Situation very similar to that of Banyeres de Mariola, whose mayor, Josep Sempere, calls it “very complicated” after reaching 100 active cases in the last week confirmed by PCR carried out in the local health center. Given the increase in infections, it launched an appeal to the population to stay home starting this Tuesday, January 12, to stop the virus from spreading.
The move follows an escalation of cases in the Alcoy Health Area, with two localities Alcoy and Castalla, not allowing anyone to enter or leave the towns without an important reason.
