After getting into trouble while driving through the mountains, 14 people needed rescuing from Aitana yesterday after their vehicles became stuck in the snow. Both the Generalitat president, Ximo Puig, and the deputy delegate of the Government in Alicante, Araceli Poblador, ask citizens to be responsible and not go to the interior areas during the weekend to see the snow.

Despite warnings from the authorities, reckless people continue to be recorded in the province’s interior during the Filomena storm. Agents of the Civil Guard had to rescue 14 people who had traveled to the Sierra de Aitana to see the snow.
Likewise, the Firefighters of the Alicante Provincial Consortium have reported some 300 vehicles on the CV-770 in the Sierra de Aitana, blocking a lane and complicating the tasks of the snowplows in the area. Forest Firefighters and the Civil Guard have had to evacuate the vehicles and close off the area.
For its part, the Civil Guard has reported that it has had to cut off the circulation of several mountain passes in the province due to vehicles being stuck throughout the morning. Specifically, they had to close several roads due to the poor condition of the roads.
