On Tuesday, Alcoy city council unanimously passed a new city ordinance regarding how people can move around the city.
On single-lane streets, the maximum speed for a vehicle will be 30 kilometers per hour (18.6mph). On double land roads such as Alameda, the top speed will be 50 kilometers per hour (31mph).
People will only be allowed to use electric scooters, bicycles, and personal mobility vehicles on the road and bicycle lanes. Anyone found riding a bike or electric scooter on the pavement will be fined. The only exception to the new rule is children under the age of ten accompanied by an adult. Another novelty is in the fines management system that will be through SUMA.
Set up by the Provincial Council of Alicante in 1990, Suma Gestión Tributaria is a 100% public provincial agency that collects taxes on behalf of municipalities.
