Recycling Pays Off For Alcoy

Today, Alcoy City Council has reported that it made 147,991 euros in the first half of 2020 from glass and cardboard collection.
From January to June, 634 tons of paper and cardboard were collected in the city, 42 more than the same period in 2019. According to reports, citizens deposited 596 tons of packaging in the yellow containers, which is 75 more than the first half of 2019, While 375 tons were collected in glass, nine less than the same period in 2019.
Storing this type of waste and taking it to recycling plants means that the municipal coffers will receive 147,991 euros after the governing board has approved the settlement of the results of the selective collection.
From January to June, 6,519 tons of garbage were collected, 528 less than in the first half of 2019. A decrease shows that Alcoy’s citizens are increasingly aware of and make a better selection when depositing waste in the containers.
