Work on the Alcoy-Xàtiva railway line will force it to close for a month and a half from next Monday, October 19, as explained by sources from the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif). The state agency will invest around 700,000 euros in these works, which will have the main task of repairing one of the tunnels and a section of trench. The affection that this supposes in the route makes it necessary to cut off the circulation until November 30.
The most significant work to be carried out is the renovation and improvement of tunnel number one on the line, between the Xàtiva and El Genovés stations. In this infrastructure, the gables will be reinforced through trusses and reinforced concrete, and the brick of the vault will be treated to prevent leaks in periods of heavy rain, among other actions. Likewise, a 75-meter-long wall will be built in a trench section a few meters from El Genovés station.
While the train works last, Alcoy will have a semi-direct substitute bus, but the users of Cocentaina and Agres will see the trip lengthened by almost three hours.
For its part, Renfe indicated that it would offer an alternative transport service between Alcoy and Xàtiva while the line is out of use. These buses’ departure times will be similar to those of the train, both from Alcoy and from Xàtiva.
