Alcoy to subsidize electric bikes and scooters

The City Council of Alcoy has announced that in the next municipal budget there will be a heading to subsidize the purchase of personal mobility vehicles (VMP), which they see as a new solution for urban commuting.

Alcoy has an extensive network of bike lanes connecting every neighbourhood in the city on which electric bikes and scooters will be allowed to use.

The new incentive for electric bicycles and scooters comes after a 75% reduction in the cost of road tax for electric cars in the first year and a 50% reduction in the second year of ownership.

The Councilor for Mobility, Jordi Martínez, emphasized that “the intention of the government is to work for sustainable mobility in our city.”
