The city of Alcoy invited journalists from Norway, Belgium, Holland and Germany to come and discover the many bicycle routes the city has to offer.
Largely promoting the Via Verde which runs alongside the Rio Serpis the visiting journalists were given bicycles to ride the old railway line that used to connect Alcoy with Gandia.
While in Alcoy the journalists stayed at the four-star Hotel Sercotel Ciutat d’Alcoi were taken on a tour of the tourism department and treated to traditional Alcoy food at the Hostal Savoy Restaurant.
The promotion of the Alcoy cycle routes was organised in collaboration with Costa Blanca, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and Turespaña through their respective Spanish tourist offices.
When speaking about the journalists visit Alcoy Councilor of Tourism, Lorena Zamorano said:
“These types of actions are essential to position Alcoy in these countries as a cycling holiday destination, an increasingly important sector in the travel market place.”
