Two simultaneous fires burn 3 hectares in Alcoy and Muro
Two forest fires, which coincided in time on Saturday afternoon, eventually burned around three hectares of scrubland. The first fire started in the Molinar area of Alcoy at about six thirty in the afternoon. As reported by the Emergency and Security Communication Office of the Valencian Community, this fire was controlled at eleven o’clock at night. Two firefighters from the Provincial Consortium, three forest firefighters and two aircraft were used to extinguish the fires. The flames affected 2.5 hectares of poplars, bushes and the structure of some ruined buildings in the area.
Almost simultaneously firefighters were required in the neighbouring town of Muro de Alcoy where a second fire ended up burning half a hectare of bushes and poplars in the gully of the Agres River. Two vehicles from the Ibi subdivision, two units of forest firefighters and two air carriers managed to extinguish the flames at 11:00 p.m., according to the Emergency and Security Communication Office of the Valencian Community.
