European Central Bank issues new Euro notes
New 100€ and 200€ are now legal tender in the European Union.
The freshly minted banknotes are difficult to forge and have been reduced in size so as to fit better in wallets.
The 200€ note is the largest monetary value bill issued by the European Central Bank after it decided to stop printing 500€ notes.
Designed by Reinhold Gerstetter, security was the main concern making the note near impossible to forge.
A hologram with a silver band running through it and a watermark of the goddess Europa both feature on the new notes.
When turning the note in light, the hologram displays an oscillating euro symbol for extra security.
