Alcoy Moors & Christians 2019

Every year cities towns and villages throughout south-eastern Spain celebrate a famous battle in 1276 that saw the Catholic monarchs defeat and eventually expel the Moorish invaders from Spain.

The city of Alcoy or Alcoi in the Valencian language is renowned for holding the biggest and best event in all of Spain. The Moors & Christians as the fiesta is called lasts for three days and involves over 4,500 participants playing out the historic battle.

With stunning costumes, replica weapons, majestic music and of course the obligatory fireworks! The Alcoy Moors & Christians fiesta has been declared by Spain of being of International Tourist Interest.
