Popular American ride-sharing app UBER has just launched a new electric scooter rental service in Spain.
Starting in the Spanish capital Madrid, UBER has placed 566 electric scooters throughout the city and is giving the public 10 free minutes to try them out during the month of April. After 10 minutes riders will be charged a rate of €0.12 per minute.
The new scooter rental service is called jump and is the first service of its kind to be used in a European city.
In order to rent a scooter, users must first download the UBER Jump app and register with a username and password.
UBER reminds users that it is not permitted to ride the 30 kilometres per hour scooters on the sidewalk and that a helmet must be worn at all times.
