Spanish police recover 57 stolen cars –all bound for Morocco
The Guardia Civil has arrested a criminal gang that would steal vehicles in Spain and then sell them in Africa.
The police also discovered that several of the vehicles had been used to rob Spanish pharmacies before being taken to Morocco.
So far eight people have been arrested and 57 of the stolen vehicles recovered along with equipment used to falsify licence plates from a farm near Paracuellos del Jaram.
The operation began after maritime authorities became suspicious after different makes and models cars turned up at different ports all with the same licence plate.
All the people arrested were of Moroccan nationality.
