Hiker rescued on Montcabrer

A helicopter of the Provincial Fire Brigade was dispatched Sunday morning to rescue a woman on Montcabrer. Apparently, the woman fractured her ankle and was unable to get down from the mountain without help. Emergency personnel met the woman at the  Mas de Llopis near Cocentaina and transported her to the Virgen de los Lirios hospital in Alcoy for treatment.

Montcabrer is the highest peak of the Sierra de Mariola. It is part of the Béticos Systems, located in the south of Spain. Located in the municipality of Cocentaina, it is 1,390 meters high, making it the third largest mountain peak in the province of Alicante (Spain).
