Mercadona to close Alameda supermarket

Valencian supermarket chain Mercadona has told Radio Alcoy that it plans to close its Alameda supermarket.

The firm has announced that this summer it will stop serving at the first store it opened in Alcoy – Workers will be relocated to other supermarkets within the group.

Mercadona plans to invest 2.3 million euros this year in the renovation of its store on Avenida de la Hispanidad, the last one to open in the city, with the aim of making it more efficient and comfortable for customers and workers. This reform comes after the one carried out at the Santa Rosa supermarket last summer.
