Popular Spanish property website idealista.com says the house prices in Spain are on the rise due to population growth. This is good news for those who already own a home and for others looking for investment opportunities.
Idealista says that prices rose an average of 8.4 per cent in 2018 but that the figure was higher in both Barcelona and Madrid.
According to the Spanish Institute for Statistics INE, the national house price average in Spain now stands at 1,720€ per square metre.
Idealista also credits the price increase to consumer confidence, improved wages and a loosening of credit by the banks.
Leading the surge in values was Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where housing soared by 22 per cent in 2018 with Madrid not far behind at 20.2 per cent.
