Alcoy to build 50 apartments for pensioners

The City Council has presented a new initiative that calls collaborative housing. It consists of 20 floors with common spaces for people over 65 years of age and that will be built in the area of Les Eres. The project is in the drafting phase, waiting to start the tender for the works in two months. According to the mayor, Antonio Francés, in addition to the housing there will be common areas such as gardens, cafeterias, laundries.

A second proposal is made up of 30 apartments that will be privately owned in which the Department of Housing has ceded the land for construction through housing cooperatives. Concha Andrés, responsible for the area of social justice of the PSPV has congratulated the mayor for this initiative and explained that the Socialist Party will work to support the proposal at the regional level.

These homes are offered as a service of personal autonomy so that older people can decide with whom and how they want to grow old and not be alone.
