Expect to pay less money for certain prescriptions

Anti-inflammatories, antitussives, drugs for osteoarthritis and hypertension are just some of the 1,200 medications that will cost less in 2019.

The General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges estimates that the public bill for prescription drugs will decrease by 88 million euros thanks to the new regulations.

In addition to prescription drugs, several over the counter medications will also come down in price such as ibuprofen, asthma drugs, contraceptives and medicines used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

Despite the order being published on November 27th pharmacies were able to sell off their remaining stock at old prices, but starting January 1st must offer customers the new reduced price.
