Making beer in your kitchen is about to become as easy as making a cup of coffee
A new coffee capsule brewing device similar to Nespresso is to go on sale in January and will keep you updated on how your beer is fermenting by sending alerts to your mobile device.
Users simply have to insert a capsule of yeast, hops and malt into the countertop device and wait two weeks for it to brew.
The machine takes all the work out of brewing beer at home by using an optimized fermentation algorithm that takes control of the fermenting process to make sure your brew is made at the perfect temperature and pressure. This ensures your beer will always be at its best. And because the whole process takes place within a single capsule, there’s next to no clean-up.
“LG HomeBrew is the culmination of years of home appliance and water purification technologies that we’ve developed over the decades,” Dan Song, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance and Air Solutions Company, said in a statement. “Homebrewing has grown at an explosive pace, but there are still many beer lovers who haven’t taken the jump because of the barriers to entry, like complexity, and these are the consumers we think will be attracted to LG HomeBrew.”
The machine is expected to cost around £240 ($303) and will produce a pint of beer for £1.27 ($1.60). The downside to brewing beer this way at home is that you can only produce nine pints at a time.
