Giant Bee species arrives in Spain
A giant East Asian bee originating in China has been spotted in Barcelona and Girona signalling its arrival in Europe.
The 2.5cm long insect is thought to have arrived in Spain housed in timber imports from the Far East. The “resin bee” makes its home in holes in tree trunks and masonry.
Experts claim that the solitary bee is harmless unless provoked and warns people against having exotic ornamental plants in their gardens.
