Fira de Tot Sants: Cocentaina puts safety first

The town council of Cocentaina has finalized their safety preparations for this year’s Fira de Tot Sants that includes special Guardia Civil patrols and surveillance from the air.

The Local Board of Citizen Security of Cocentaina met yesterday at City Hall to discuss the security arrangements for the Fira de Tots Sants. The meeting was chaired by the sub-delegation of the Government in the province of Alicante, Araceli Poblador, and was attended by the mayor, Mireia Estepa, along with the Mayor of Fira, Mariona Carbonell, and Security, Marcos Castelló, as well as representatives of Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, firemen, Civil Protection and Red Cross.

The event attracts more than 500,000 people in the capital of El Comtat every year, so security preparations are essential. During the meeting, the collaboration of a hundred troops from the state security forces was confirmed, as well as a large group of professionals among fire-fighters, Red Cross, Civil Protection, private security, health and access and parking guards. In total 590 people will be part of the operation during the event which runs from the 1st until the 4th of November.

The Civil Guard, in addition, confirmed the presence of the Special Unit of Citizen Security and the surveillance from the air.

“There are many people who visit us and we want everyone to have fun and enjoy the Fira de Tots Sants, but always with respect,” said the mayor during the meeting.
