Bars allowed to keep outdoor terraces open longer

Following a town council meeting in which hotel, restaurant, bar owners and neighbourhood associations could voice their opinions over how long outdoor terraces could stay open the council found in favour of the businesses.

Before businesses were only allowed to have tables outdoors until midnight but following complaints by business owners and customers they are now allowed to continue serving until one-thirty on the morning.

These new hours only apply to Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings as well as on days preceding a holiday.

A general complaint by the Alcoy proprietors was that they were losing business to nearby municipalities that had relaxed regulations when it came to closing times.
