Montcabrer hiker rescued by helicopter

A member of the Elda Hiking Club had to be rescued by firefighters over the weekend after suffering a fall in the Sierra Mariola Natural Park. The 60-year-old woman was just 300 metres from the summit of Montcabrer when she suffered a fall badly injuring her ankle.

Her companions notified the emergency services who arrived at the scene and called in a helicopter to take the hiker to the Virgen de los Lirios hospital in Alcoy for treatment.
