Smart Electric Scooter to hit the Streets

If you are looking for the next big thing it might surprise you to learn that it is already here. NIU is the brainchild of an innovative Chinese start-up founded by the former CTO of Baidu (the Chinese Google) and a former employee of Microsoft.

Niu is the world’s first real smart electric scooter built to a high standard using the latest electric motor and lithium battery technology.

With an 18,650 cell removable battery built by Panasonic and a German motor built by Bosch the  NIU M+ has a single charge range of 130 kilometres and can be fully charged at home in 3.5 hours.

The NIu M+ works in tandem with your smartphone keeping you aware of how much battery life you have remaining and your ride history. The scooter also comes complete with GPS and an anti-theft device that notifies you if it has been moved.

With European cities like Amsterdam and Paris looking to ban petrol scooters the demand for electric scooters is expected to be high, something NIU looks to take advantage of as it competes alongside Vespa’s soon to be released electric model.
