Alcoy Hospital to receive a multi-million euro overhaul

The local board of governors of the City of Alcoy yesterday approved the concession of works for the renovation of Paediatrics department of Alcoy Hospital.

Former Minister of Health Carmen Montón announced in April 2016 during a visit to the Public Health Centre of Alcoy that the Government had planned to invest one million euros in the expansion of the Paediatrics and Neonatology department at the Virgen de los Lirios Hospital.

The work should have been carried out in 2017 but never came to fruition due to delays in obtaining building permits.

Now the work has been rolled into a 7 million euro package that includes upgrades to all departments of the hospital.

Some of the work has already been carried out and includes the renovation of the emergency radiology room and the replacement of two elevators.

Work on the rest of the hospital projects is set to begin before the end of the year.
