National Police save an elderly couple from Alcoy fire
National Police rescued an elderly couple for a burning building last Sunday.
After having received a 112 emergency call the National Police were first on the scene to a building on fire in the centre of Alcoy.
After having evicted residents from the already smoke-filled building neighbours alerted the police to the fact that an elderly couple was still inside.
The couple both in their 90’s were stuck in their flat unable to find their way out through the smoke and flames. The police quickly broke down their door and carried them from the building where an ambulance was waiting to transport them to the Virgen de los Lirios Hospital, where they have been treated for smoke inhalation.
After fireman put out the fire all indications point to the fire having started by electrical wires short-circuiting.
