Madrid joins Barcelona taxi drivers in strike against UBER
Taxi drivers in Madrid have joined Barcelona taxi drivers on strike protesting companies like Uber and Cabify accusing them of being unfair competition.
The indefinite strike continues in Madrid and Barcelona, and the protest has been joined by taxi workers from other cities, such as Malaga or Seville, where sporadic demonstrations have taken place. From this midnight tonight taxi drivers in Valencia, Alicante and Zaragoza will also go on strike. The Basque Taxi Federation has called for taxi drivers to join the strike called by the National Taxi Association tomorrow, and groups of taxi drivers from the Balearic Islands have called on professionals in the sector to strike on Tuesday between the 9.00 and 14.00. The conflict is spreading, and the strikes have led the Ministry of Development to convene a meeting with taxi drivers on Monday.
